"The mature man lives quietly, does good privately, takes responsibility for his actions, treats others with friendliness and courtesy, finds mischief boring and avoids it. Without the hidden conspiracy of goodwill, society would not endure an hour."
Kenneth Rexroth
I wanted to explore the Northwest, so I left all my belongings in a 5×5×5’ storage unit in Texas and caught a plane to Eugene. I have been a nomad these past eight years, have done a lot of exploring and gardening, written my fourth novel, but seek a permanent place where I can be part of a community and contribute.
I live on SSecurity($1000/mo) and, depending on the space, can pay $500-600/mo, but in return I offer extensive gardening skills and a strong back to perform seemingly impossible tasks, along with excellent writing/editing/photography skills. In my 70’s but in excellent shape and still have a 32 inch waist. Looking for a simple space/apt/cabin with bed, closet, preferably a desk/table, and, if I'm lucky, a private bath, which is greatly appreciated at my age.
To philosophize… taking the high road I have a better view. I need space, to see the lay of the land, so I would like to end up in a rural area, away from street lights and traffic, but within driving distance of a nice town/village with a decent coffeehouse and a used bookshop. Mild weather area preferably as my 2004 Hyundai can't tolerate snow. In other words, not up in the snowy mts, the rain forest, or the desert. Ellensberg is about as big as I wanna go.
Have raised two wonderful daughters and trying to live a simple, mindful life, spread some beauty around through my art, and practice kindness to all beings. In my youth I was an DJ, drummer in a rock band, barista, freelance writer, explored Anasazi ruins and tracked mountain lions, Which is the short version of my resume.
I don't smoke and enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Have nothing to do with drugs.
Thoreau is my hero and he said this: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”
Thank you and good night!
