Schedule: 8:30am-2:30pm with an opportunity for additional hours.

Skookum, an award-winning, non-profit organization seeks a dynamic and dedicated Group Supported Job Coach to support individuals with developmental disabilities with their job tasks at the Port Townsend Recycling Center.

As a Group Supported Job Coach you will assign work, track, and monitor the safety of employees. Assist in the implementation of company policies and procedures. Provide individual job instruction, modeling, and support. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Model appropriate professional behaviors. Develop rapport with GSE employees, DDA County Coordinator, DDA Case Managers, parents, guardians and home staff. Become familiar with GSE
Communicate effectively with GSE employees, stakeholders, co-workers, colleagues and customers.
Be a proactive member of the Port Townsend Recycling team and the Community Employment Services team.
Work alongside employees to clean up debris in the recycling area.
Set-up Safety signs before employees start their work day.
Wear required personal protective equipment. Make sure employees wear PPE’s.
Attend at least sixteen hours of training and/or continuing education each year.
Ability to coordinate / conduct meetings with client, guardian and/or residential support staff, DDA Case Manager to address concerns and effectively problem solve.
Utilize and create verbal cues to assist employees to be successful.
Utilize adaptive technology to assist in creating a structured work environment.
Teach new skills to employees with developmental disabilities.
Create SMART goals for the six month and annual progress reports.
Track SMART goals on a weekly basis. Input into case notes.
Present safety information once a week to the GSE employees.
Spend three to four hours per week typing case notes and reports and setting up the worksite.
Spend twelve hours per week coaching employees on the work site.
Attend Community Employment Services department meetings, weekly.
Become familiar with GSE contract and operations of Recycle.

Ideal Candidate will have the following skills/strengths: empathy, patience, ability to manage time and prioritize tasks, strong sense of safety for self and others, creative thinker, computer savvy, team player, excellent communication skills.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

High School degree or GED required.
Experience in Social Services preferred.
Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
Must be able to obtain and maintain cleared National Criminal and DSHS background checks.
