Plant these hardy perennials now. Let root in over winter and enjoy fresh blooms next spring/summer. Photo #1 are the plants I am selling. Photo #2 is an example of adult plants in bloom and Photo #3 is what Home Depot has available.
Many gardeners with shady places also must contend with deer, whose nibbling of expensive plants can be infuriating. Not so with Astilbe, which the deer tend to ignore. These plants really aren't fussy, but will not tolerate drought, so watch for hot, dry spells and periodically give them a deep drink. If your soil is loamy and moist, they'll be fine and reward you with flowers that appear to float above the ground covers. Originally both pink & red were planted but I can only recall seeing the pink this year. These have been growing in a local garden for over 15 yrs and are acclimated to our area.
