One of the advantages of this bed (which is no longer available new) is that it does not require purchasing a box spring, A mattress (and you will need to supply your own) sits directly on top of well-constructed slats--which are shown in pic 2, along with the headboard and footboard.
And you will not need any tools to reassemble it. All parts are designed for easy assembly with nothing more than a pair of hands.
