Rare SHERYN’S MAPLE OF CALIFORINIA 1940s-50s Retro Mid-Century RARE Rocking Magazine Holder

The magazine holder measures 18.5” long at the top outside edge to edge, 11” wide at the end top outside edge to edge, 11” tall on the shortest end (not the heart shape hole finger grip end).

I am almost certain this holder dates to the 1940s-50s era. I checked eBay twice, once months ago and again just now, never saw this particular item in SHERYN'S MAPLE OF CA listings; the wall shelves are always abundantly listed on ebay, sometimes other things. So I suspect this rocking magazine holder is a rare, it is signed/marked on the bottom SHERYN’S MAPLE OF CALIFORINA, see last pics. Are these rocking type magazine holders rare in general? Not sure, but this is the first one I have ever seen in 25 years of regularly going to antique malls, estate and garage sales.

No cracks or chips, all joints are tight, beautifully cleaned and restored original finish. I wiped the magazine holder with damp clean cloths, let dry overnight, then applied one coat of maple color Restore-A-Finish (except the outside bottom which was only cleaned with a damp cloth), let dry, then finally buffed to a low sheen, looks beautiful. On one end is a small faint dark patch, see pic 5. This is not noticeable in casual use and viewing, hardly detracts, is possibly just a natural feature in the wood. I have been restoring antique/vintage wood furniture items as a hobby all my adult life, have done many projects like this over the decades.

You can come to the house in Port Angeles to see it, or I can deliver for free to the area between or to Sequim. Please ask any questions.
