Lovely handwoven Ethiopian Coffee dress with matching scarf/shawl. Beautiful green cotton bands with gold thread embroidery grace the hem, sleeve openings and neckline front and back. These traditional dresses have deep historical roots combining cultural identity with the ancient coffee ceremonies for which Ethiopia is known. Woven of cotton, usually white symbolizing purity. The scarf/shawl i worn over the shoulders and/or on the wearer's head. Wonderful in hot weather or for at home evenings.
I bought this lovely dress in Addis Abbaba, while volunteering with a medical mission in Ethiopia. I loved the way the women looked in these beautiful graceful dresses. And I loved the combination of a cultural dress combined with Ethiopia's recognition as being the birthplace of coffee. These dresses are worn at coffee ceremonies.
These are quite expensive online, ordered from Ethiopia, and run from $80 to over $200.
