Antique bronze pelorus made by the Sperry Gyroscope Company of New York. Good working condition. Sighting vanes work with mirror, sighting wire and sliding eyepiece intact but vanes are slightly bent. Bent vanes could probably be straightened by hammering with a mallet or clamping in a vise with padded jaws. Glass level vial is not broken or cracked, still has bubble. Numerals, cardinal points, degree marks are all very sharp and clear with minimal wear, if any. Instrument is gimbaled and counter-weighted. No stand or box. Compass face diameter is 9 1/2", gimbal is 12 3/4". Instrument has a nice patina and would restore to very impressive displayable instrument from sailing days of long ago. I saw an identical restored piece in an East coast chandlery some years ago with a $1,000.00 price tag. It did have the original wooden storage box.
