This is a classic 1960 wooden boat originally named the “Joint Venture” was built in Bellingham, WA. Constructed with solid mahogany and Alaska yellow cedar, with a deck that is 3/4" plywood with non-skid sealing material (Gacoflex). The boat has been partially restored and modernized. A recent survey (2019) found the vessel construction sound and the machinery operational. Most of the upgrades recommended on the 2019 survey are complete. The restoration is almost complete on this classic wooden boat - make it yours and add your style to bring the Joint Venture back to her former glory.
The Joint Venture has participated in the Olympia Wooden Boat Fair in 1987, 1988 and 1990, the Tacoma Daffodil Marine Parade in 1991, and was awarded 1st place in the Diamond Cruise 1990 Lighted Ship Award.
Some newer features and upgrades include updated wiring, electric panels, bilge pump, VHF radio & antenna, 120 amp smart plug inlets, battery charger, transformer, batteries charged by engine and shore power, exterior paint, interior decor, ropes, fire extinguishers. The125 HP Ford Lehman Diesel engine was recently serviced and has approximately 400 unrecorded hours. The transmission is a Borg-Warner 2.5:1 reduction gear type driving a 1 1/2" SS
shaft and a 21" LH 18" three blade propeller. All new electrical is Blue Sea equipment and was installed by a certified marine electrician.
The boat was pulled out in June 2019. At that time, a new propellor was installed and propellor system repaired, new cotton installed at seams, woodwork repaired and new top high gloss white paint and new bottom antifouling dark blue paint.
The spacious wheelhouse is accessible from both port and starboard sides and includes large windows with excellent visibility, chart table, classic wheel & captain's chair as well as a comfortable settee which is large enough to serve as a pilot’s berth. The front berth includes an offset twin size berth, full head with marine toilet, shower and sink. The galley has a 4-burner propane cooktop & oven, double sink, plenty of storage, a Dickson diesel cabin heater, hot water heater, LED lighting and new curtains. Needs new refrigerator, however all dedicated wiring has already been installed. The cozy rear berth has a single bed and convertible dining area. Stern deck includes a door and swim step. New vinyl lettering with original name "Joint Venture" and port of Port Angeles, WA.
The boat has been kept in a boathouse, protected from weather which has preserved the exterior. The location is ideal for cruising to Canada and exploring the San Juan Islands and is in close proximity to excellent halibut, salmon and crab fishing just outside of the harbor.
Boathouse is also included with moorage at $470.00 a month plus electricity and an additional $85.00 for live aboard. We live on the boat full time. The boathouse includes insulated loft, kitchenette, new refrigerator, shower, hot water heater, new electrical panels and wiring. Tons of shelves and storage, a variety of fishing gear & miscellaneous boating supplies. Will consider selling separately.
