Handmade, fair-trade felt animals, made at The Disabled Service Center in Kathmandu, Nepal. This center houses and employs persons who would otherwise not be able to find gainful employment in a country that dismisses their value as human beings. They make the sheets of felt, cut, stitch, stuff and glue each item by hand.
100% of proceeds goes to support homeless and abandoned elders in Nepal and Guatemala. The women you see holding up the door hangers in these photos are some of the residents we care for at the elder care home in Pharping, Nepal. Two of the women have no family to take care of them The third woman was put out into the street first by her stepson, and they by her own daughter -- her stepson cheated her out of her share of the family property, and her daughter was told by her in-laws to either abandon her mother or be put out into the streets with her. Your purchase not only supports The Disabled Service Center, but all the residents at the care home.
